We the People, Need the Honda Hornet

Tonight I was riding my CBR1000RR. Even having the Ducs I still find myself attracted to this bike. Damn, Honda is just a smooth ride and I can’t get enough of it. My first bike was a Honda 919. Loved that bike too. While it’s compelling to ride the CBR around the city at night, there are a few things I loved about the 919 that I’d love to have back. Sitting more upright and having a better view of the traffic — or having less pain in my hands after 45 minutes of riding.

So, after a perfect ride tonight I came home and did a little reminiscing about the Honda 919. To me the perfect bike would be a mashup between my CBR and a 919. What’s really aggrevating is that this bike actually exists. It’s the 2009 cb1000r and it’s not available in the United States. Here’s a pic of a modified one.

So we can’t buy one here. Maybe I could make one out of mine? Well, found this on the 2WF.com (Two Wheel Freaks) website. Gotta hand it to this guy. Manufacturing his own Triple Clamp to accomplish this? Sheesh, that’s a true Two Wheel Freak. But, I do like how this bike turned out.

Friday Night Fun On the Hypermotard

We had another day of perfect weather here in Dallas today. It was a full week and I nearly passed out after getting home from work. Just as the sun was going down I realized that I had not ridden today. So I picked myself up and blasted a few miles on the Hypermotard. Every time I ride this bike I fall in love again. It really is the ultimate street bike. For living in a city it’s just non-stop fun.

Tonight I rode through fair park, Deep Ellum and then up Greenville. For the first time I saw Terilli’s since the fire. It’s completely ruined. My heart goes out to the business owners.

Tomorrow is the St. Patty’s Day party and parade on Greenville. It’s already starting down there…

Quick Escape From Rain

There was no rain in the forecast for the next several days and then a storm snuck in on us. I’m a big bike nerd and any day you can ride a bike is really a good day, so I took the CBR1000rr out just long enough to warm up the engine. In the downtown Dallas area you can’t really get out of second gear without earning a free ride to jail, so it was fairly mellow with just a couple of short blasts up some of the side roads.

Overall I love the 2007 CBR1000. It’s an amazing bike. I’ve owned a 2008 model and this one is a 2007. It’s the older body style. It’s a bit bigger (longer) and heavier. I’m tall at 6 foot 7 inches so this one fits much better for me than the 2008 model.

This bike is silky smooth and wicked fast. It’s got a hydraulic clutch which is just so easy to use. You can pretty much take off at a stop sign without using the throttle if you just ease out on the clutch. It’s a smooth but super fun bike to ride, with plenty of power to get you in serious trouble.

It’s 1098s Weather Here In Texas

The weather in Dallas today was just about perfect. By far the best day of the year, at a sunny and 75 degrees. After a few meetings I was back at the office and could not resist taking the 1098s out to blow off some steam. Turning right onto 2nd avenue I realized the team would be able to hear me so there was a slightly increased twist of the throttle to let the Termignoni’s growl. Not too fast though as there’s a slippery left ahead over some rail road tracks.

It was a beautiful day for a quick stroll on this bike. After all the cold weather and more riding on the Vespa 300, the 170 horses (estimated with the mods) will really get your attention.

Any day I get to ride anything is a good day. The 1098s offered me a nice and quick get-away.
